    Courses in sand dune ecology and related biological topics
    Autumn 2002 and Spring 2003

    The University will be holding two courses based at Ainsdale Discovery Centre near Southport during the Autumn and Spring Terms. Details appear below.


    "Life in the sand dunes".

    Friday 27th September - 29th November 2002 inclusive:

    This course combines fieldwork and theory to introduce the wide variety of life which is found in the sand dunes, and to explain the distribution of the plants and animals found in the dune system. It is a 'beginners' course and all are welcome.


    "Flowering and other plants of the sand dunes".

    Friday 10th January to 14th March inclusive:

    This course concentrates on the structure of plants with examples from the sand dunes and is a beginners course in botany.

    Registration can be made in advance by contacting the University of Liverpool (0151 794 6900) or at the first meeting. Further details available form Stephen Horne 01695 733687. The course costs between £17 and £34 for ten meetings, depending upon personal circumstances.
